Take Me Outside
Ontario Trails Events
|Event:||Take Me Outside|
|Trail:||Albion Hills Conservation - Red Trail|
|Abstract:||Join over 250,000 students across Canada who are helping to promote outdoor education and the importance of spending time outside!|
Over 200,00 students and teachers across Canada will commit to spending at least one hour outside to help raise awareness about the importance of outdoor education – that learning can in fact happen outside of four walls and a desk. Also, we want to raise awareness about simply spending less time in front of screens and more time outside. If you can commit to spending 1 hour outside on this day to support these students, we would appreciate it!
Are you in or are you out?

In 2011, Colin Harris, founder and director of Take Me Outside, ran across Canada - 7600 km (the equivalent of 181 marathons) over 9 months. During the run, he went into about 80 schools and chatted with nearly 20,000 students about finding better balance between the increasing amount of time we're spending in front of screens and the decreasing time we're spending outside. He finished his run in late October, dipping his toe into the Pacific Ocean. On this day, 15,000 students across Canada went outside, not only to celebrate the end of his run, but to help raise awareness about the importance of getting out. In the past 5 years, this initiative has grown to see over 200,000 students participate each year.
