Government - Programs and Services
Increasingly the Ontario Trails Council is working with a significant number of government departments and projects in order to promote the creation, development, preservation, management, and use of trails throughout Ontario.
The OTC believes that its membership and the public are best served when they are aware of these programs and services.
- MMAH – Fund Support details information on programs for economic opportunity in rural Ontario.
- Infrastructure Ontario provides information on capital infrastructure grant financing through Ontario.
- The Ministry of Health promotes trail use through Health Units.
- The Trillium Foundation is an arms-length organization that provides grants to organizations supporting trails.
- The Ministry of Agriculture provides relevant guidelines to trail managers developing trail in farmland.
- The Ministry of Municipal Affairs provides information relevant to the Line Fences Act and other Municipal Trail related obligations.
- The Ministry of Tourism is a direct supporter of many projects in the recreational and tourism trails industry.
- The Ontario Tourism Marketing Partnership Corporation provides marketing support to tourism operators and industry sectors - i.e. ATV-Ontario.
- Human Resources Development Canada provides employment opportunity to persons learning new skills in the recreational trail management sector.
- Ontario Works provides personnel who can provide options to trail organizations looking to improve trail development skills.
- Northern Ontario Heritage Funding Corporation provides developmental and support funding to organizations maintaining the heritage of Northern Ontario.
- Ontario Heritage Fund provides information regarding steps persons can take to fund and preserve important heritage elements in their community.
- EcoAction provides information regarding steps communities can take to promote ecological improvements.
- Katimavik provides volunteer resources to local organizations in need.
