Gordon Glaves Memorial Pathway

Brantford's trail system began more than twenty years ago. Many of the first pathways were developed on the flat surfaces of the dikes built to protect the city from floods. Gradually, other public paths were connected to the dike trails and the network grew.

In 1993, the entire pathway system was named after the late Gordon C. Glaves, a prominent community volunteer. The pathway is now more than 40 km long. Most sections of the trail parallel the Grand River as it meanders through Brantford.

Twenty-six kilometres on the east side of the river also form part of the Trans Canada Trail, linking Brantford to both Hamilton and Cambridge along an extensive rail trail network. The pathways are scenic and ideal for walking, cycling, jogging and even cross country skiing.
