Trans Canada Trail - Northumberland portion

The Northumberland portion of this trail spans from Hastings southeast to Hoard's Station (just east of Campbellford) taking you through 22km of marshland, meadows, hayfields and some shade trees.

You'll be travelling on an abandoned rail line with a packed-dirt surface and 1” stones leading up to the bailey bridges. These trails are common in Ontario, there is a movement to convert abandoned rail lines into trails. many of them support multiple uses so check with the local trail groups regarding (spelling)  other uses, in this case Eastern Ontario Trails Alliance at www.thetrail.ca

At the halfway point in Campbellford you’ll be coming off of the abandoned rail line and cycling a back road behind Canadian Tire, join up with Rotary trail along the Trent River and then you’ll enjoy the views when you travel over the Ranney Falls Suspension Bridge.

A map with points of interest can be found at www.ourfavtctrail.ca or a hard copy is free by calling Northumberland Tourism at 1-866-401 EAST (3278) or by emailing info@northumberlandtourism.com
