Help Connect the Credit Valley Trail
A 100km pathway through the Credit River Valley, connecting people to nature, cultural experiences and Indigenous heritage
The primary purpose of the Island Lake Community Trails Project is to provide enhanced tourism, recreation, and educational experiences to headwaters and Island Lake Conservation Area visitors and residents by completing a perimeter lake trail, with side trail linkages into the surrounding communities of Orangeville and Mono.
The trails provide year round access, enjoyment and appreciation to the outstanding natural scenery of Island Lake, while also meeting Credit Valley Conservation’s objectives for protection and appreciation of natural systems of the headwaters through the provision of appropriate outdoor recreation and tourism initiatives.
The Trail is constructed to meet a 2.7 metre wide design standard that is widely accepted for barrier-free shared use pathways. Viewing platforms and boardwalk will extend over wetland and lake features to enhance interpretive experiences and are critical to the proper crossing of sensitive natural areas.
