(!) New rule in effect. I will be checking registrants name and profile photo to ensure they can be traced. A proper profile includes a recognizable first name and a clearly identifiable photo (without the need of magnification).
This is a hike intended for experienced hikers who has good endurance and steady footed navigating uneven trails and steeper inclines. One has to traverse through rocks and go up on inclines (watch terrain video). The route we will be on passes through both the Morton Bay loop and the Summit loop. My pre-walk lasted slightly below 3 hours, covering a distance of just above 6 km. The trail towards the top of the summit is not well marked. Even after the pre-walk last Sunday, I might still have to find my way through. Also this hike may be postponed or cancelled due to inclement weather.
We will leave the parking lot at about 10:05 am. Please plan your trip accordingly to arrive prior to the start time. We will begin with an introduction and welcome exercise, and then we will relax and enjoy our time in nature.
Bring water, snack, poles and wear a good pair of hiking shoes. Pack light, and dress properly for the weather. It may be more windy at the top.
No pets for this hike.
Facility is available at the trail head.
If you intend to post pictures make sure participants agree to be in the photo.

Description - Rock Dunder is a trail that will lead you to incredible views of the Rideau Waterway. This hiking trail is only one hour outside of Ottawa and it is worth the quick drive. The trail is open from May to November making it perfect for summer and fall views.
Born in fire over a billion years ago deep in the roots of an ancient mountain range, Rock Dunder is part of a large igneous feature termed the Lyndhurst granite. Wind, water, and the ice of retreating glacial ice sheets sculpted this hard pink granite into its present shape.
Rock Dunder offers three different trail loops:
The Cabin Trail: easy, 1.3 km walk, beaver pond, mixed forest and a white pine plantation. Hiking boots not required.
The Morton Bay Loop: 2 km, two moderately steep sections to and from a small peninsular outlook over Morton Bay, mixed forest. Hiking boots recommended.
The Summit Loop: 3.9km, runs alongside Dean's Island through a variety of forest, sneak peaks over rocky cliffs, panoramic view of the Rideau.
