Description
Join us for a free community ravine walk in Warden Woods, guided by arborist Todd Irvine of City Forest! See some giant sugar maples and a centuries-old beech tree, and learn about how you can help protect our city’s vital ravines. This walk will take place along the Gus Harris Trail (a trail that features the Taylor-Massey Creek and is good for all skill levels). In addition to providing information about the Warden Woods ravine, this walk will be made accessible to Blind and Partially Sighted participants with audio descriptions. Our audio described walk allows for greater participation, knowledge and awareness of ravines in an inclusive, low-impact and eco-friendly way.
This walk is organized by West Scarborough resident Katherine Sanders and audio description expert Rebecca Singh of Superior Description. Made possible by Park People's Ravine Champions program, this event will introduce local residents to the wonders of nature right outside your door!
The walk will begin at the Gus Harris Trailhead, located in the parking lot of Pharmacy Yard, at 125 Pharmacy Avenue. You will find a small road off Pharmacy that goes downhill, past a dog park, and leads to a large parking lot. At the far end of the parking lot there is a sign for the Gus Harris Trail. Our walk will start there at 6:30pm and will take about an hour, after which we'll make our way back to the parking lot, or guests are welcome to continue on the trail on their own.
