Description
Using examples from the South Hill area, we'll explore some of the infrastructure that makes life in the city possible, from drinking water filtration and distribution, to transportation, to electricity, and trace how these modern systems connect back over the past thousand years to Indigenous trail networks.
Start Location: 35 Poplar Plains Road (High-Level Pumping Station)
Our staff and volunteers will be at the tour's starting location 30 minutes prior to each tour. Please arrive at least 5-10 minutes prior to the start of the tour to allow time for check in.
End Location: Wells Hill Park (145 Hilton Avenue)
Length of Tour: Approximately 90 minutes
Distance and Terrain: Approximately 1.2 kilometers, mostly on side walk and forest trail. Some part of the walk are steep hills and uneven ground,.
Registration is required for all tours. Please note: you will not be able to join a tour group if you have not registered ahead of time.
This tour uses individual audio headsets. All registered participants will be provided with an individual headset that will allow you to hear the tour guide throughout the tour.
We ask for your help and patience in making the tour experience as safe as possible for everyone. Participants are welcome to wear a mask during the tour.
