The park provides a nice area for walking or picnicking. The site also has considerable historical significance.
Formerly known as Burlington Heights Park, the site was renamed Harvey Park on June 11, 1894, after Sir John Harvey (1778-1852), a British soldier and colonial administrator who was appointed to Upper Canada.
Harvey distinguished himself during the War of 1812, particularly at Lundy's Lane, the siege of Fort Erie, and, most notably, the Battle of Stoney Creek.
A set of stairs is located near the High Level Bridge linking Harvey Park Trail to the Hamilton Harbour Waterfront Trail.
