We are excited to announce the launch of the beta version of the new Ontario Trails Council website! Please take a moment to check out the updated version of this page. Homesteader Trail

Homesteader Trail

The Homesteader Trail Loop is named in recognition of the pioneers who tried to farm this corner of the Canadian Shield.

Today, roads and trails named after those Homesteaders are all that is left of the area's farming past. Look for long abandoned overgrown farm fields and old stone fences.

This 25 km route can easily be divided into smaller loops by using the IB&O Rail Trail that dissects the outer loop.

The trail has a variety of difficulty levels taking in easy scenic back roads, flat rail trails, moderate hilly sections through forests and a short difficult section of rugged hill mountain bikers will enjoy.
