The Lambton County Heritage Forest was formally recognized through the Areas of Scientific and Natural Interest (ANSI) program in 1993.
The purpose of the study was to create a comprehensive management plan for the forest, with an emphasis on the preservation and management of its rare oak-pine savannah community. The final plan was adopted in the Fall of 1994.
An updated plan is being developed by the St. Clair Region Conservation Authority.
