If you’re in search of a serene paddle on relatively unused waters, Little Hawk Lake is a first-rate option. Despite the numerous amenities at the trailhead, including a restaurant and supplies store, most choose to explore the larger Big Hawk Lake.
This benefits those that prefer a quiet route, and maintain its understated seclusion. The route begins at Little Hawk, and takes short portages to small Snowshoe and midway lakes. This permits access into Bearcat Lake, where there are two campsites.
A 518m portage connects Bearcat to Clear Lake, and the final 281m portage drops you into Big Hawk Lake. The last 2-km are through this lake system back to your launch site.
